This article is talking about the violence in jail. THere are gang members and nonviolent people, most of the people in jail are drugg offenders.
I agree with the writer of this article it seems like we should put the more violent people in jail first and find something to do with the drug offenders because going into jail is not teaching them a lesson its just teaching them more.
Jail is not a safe place, from reading this aritcle and watching about it on TV it seems like criminals learn more in jail rather then learning their lesson and trying to clean up.
It is actually scary knowing that there is this many people in the world that are not in jail that are violent like the gangs.
Even though it seems like the jails are just as violent as the streets now. There is always murders and fights in jail it seems like there is somthing we could do to clean this up.
Though most of the people in jail are drug offenders most of the violence on the streets are drug related too. It like a vicious circle that seems like we have no control over.
I personally can not think of anything we can do to help this but hopefully the government can because it is scary knowing you live in a place like this.

MISSING BLOG
The article I chose was on cnn.com and it was about a man who said he cut off his hand because god told him to. The police said that they were treating it as a suicide.
I don't understand how they could say this man was in his right mind and sane if he cut off his hand with a kitchen knife and said "god told him to."
They didn't say if they would test him mentally to see if he was stable but I don't understand how they could say that without testing him.
The article was short but I am sure there will be a follow up.

JONESTOWN BLOGPOST.
The people’s temple in my opinion had a lot of characteristics of a cult. Some appeared at the beginning and others which were more severe took more time to actually become aware of.
They were challenging norms from the beginning by having an interracial church and anyone that didn’t agree with this was thrown out. I think this started as a good thing but then just got worse.
The members were very mistrusting of outsiders they had constant services and Jim’s voice was always on the speaker system in Guyana so the church and Jim were all they thought about and always in their mind.
One way it resembled a cult was they separated themselves from society at first it was just by moving to California to a less racial place. Then they completely moved out of the country to Guyana.
Another reason because the members did not make their own decisions Jim Jones made all the decisions for everyone, also he said “ if you see me as your friend I’ll be your friend, If you see me as your father I’ll be your father and if you see me as your god I’ll be your god.” In the movie people also held up signs that said “I believe in Jim Jones.” Instead of saying I believe in god.
The members seemed to forget how to think for themselves, they lost all common sense and everything Jim said was right and everything he did was for their best interest.
He even had families turning on each other, people selling their houses for the church and leaving everything they had behind just for the church. People were made feel guilty if they had too many luxuries, they felt like they had to stay up days on end and donate their money for the church.
Every time someone in the church tried to speak against Jim Jones they were shut down first by him then members of the church attacked them.
Jim made sure no one felt like they were better than anyone else in the church; an example was the woman in the church getting naked and broken down by all the members.
He controlled them and made them feel like everyone was out to get the church and society was bad, he also controlled communications in the church and made you feel like if you wanted to leave, you were betraying him.
It seemed like Jim always had loyalty tests one was the fake poison he made them think was juice another was in Guyana when he said he was sending people out saying they wanted to leave and to turn them in and the final was the “revolutionary suicide”.
He made everyone think that since the congressman died that people in the U.S. would be after them and it would be better if they died for a cause and together, making a point to the church.
I do not think this was revolutionary suicide like he tried to tell people. I think he fed the poison to the children first to make the parents and people around feel like they had nothing to live for.

The article I chose is called 'Desperate Japanese head to suicide forest'. It says in this article that the forest is either known for beautiful views or suicide.
A man named Taro attempted suicide at the age of 46 in the forest because of money problems. He was fired from his job and he said ' you need money to survive.'
Japan already had one of the worlds highest suicide rates and it has increased due to the economic downturn. They have posted security cameras in the forest and now counelors roam the forest hoping to help the desperate.

MISSING CURRENT EVENT
The article I chose is called British coupleat assisted suicide clinic. The ederly couple both had cancer and wouldnt live very long.
I'm usually one to frown on the assisted suicide just because I feel like anyone could go there in the wrong state of mind and say they wanted to die, when down the road the life could get better.
This case is different it seems like they were old just wanted to die together and both had cancer they had been fighting for awhile. Some people in the article said its sad they had to travel to do this.
I don't think people look at the pros and cons of this assisted suicide, to me it seems like the pros weigh out the cons and it seems more dangerous and agaist alot of religions.

The article I chose was smuggler with a broken leg. It was about a man who had a cast made out of cocaine in Mexico. He actually broke his leg too just in case police would xray to see, which to me is crazy because once they see it is made out of cocaine they wont care if it really is broken. Overall he was arrested with 4.8 kilograms of cocaine and beer in his luggage. He was 66 years old and i guess since he thought he actually broke his leg for this and his age teh police would feel bad for him and let him go.

Current event February 13th.
The article I chose is Push to make porn star a senator no stunt, fan says. Fans of porn star Stormy Daniels are drafting her to run for U.S. Senate in Louisiana. Before posting this blog I read the comments on CNN.com. It seems like I wasn't the only one that laughed when I read this. It seems ridiculous that the state of Louisiana would even consider this and be able to take her seriously. I think she would want this more in a "Paris Hilton" way, for fame. They said in this article that Stormy is the best suited in Louisiana and someone posted " if this is the best Louisiana has to offer then maybe they should switched places with Puerto Rico". I don't think she would understand what was going on or even take it seriously. They should give everyone a chance she claims she wants to start a clean slate but they also have to take into consideration who would make the best disicions for their state. Michael Phelps just got in trouble for smoking pot this is how it should be they are representing us and looked at as role models but we are going to let one of our U.S. senators make adult videos? It doesn't seem right. They stated that she was editor for her high school newspaper and president of her school's 4-H club, since when did that qualify you as a senator? She also said " Politics can't be any dirtier of a job than the one i am already in", I'm embarrassed for her for saying this. Being a politician is a little different than being a porn star. I don't think she is the best suited for this job.
